Iridesse Roussanne Russian River Valley Saralee's Vineyard 2003

Description

SORRY!  We are all SOLD OUT of this Iridesse favorite! Try the really yummy  2005 Albariño!

So you don’t like white wine? Try the refreshing complexity of Roussanne. Full-bodied, rich, yet fresh and interesting, Roussanne has fast become one of our favorites. Originally from the Rhone valley of France, ours comes from one of the most pedigreed growers in the Russian River Valley. Its skin is actually a russet that turns ruddy before the harvest. Its golden nectar is gently released in the press before going directly into French Oak barrels for 14 months. This layering of flavors: honeysuckle, apricot, pear, toasty baguette and hints of crème bruleé, make Roussanne and interesting wine to pair with a variety of foods or enjoy a glass - or three - just ‘cause.

95% Roussane, Russian River Valley
5% Viognier, Russian River Valley

C: pale straw N: Honeysuckle, Meyer lemon, white fruit with pear, crisp and clean P: More wonderful lighter fruits with crisp acidity that isn't racy but balanced. Amazing silky mouthfeel from the V, full-bodied and almost coating but finishes crisp again with pear and a chalky minerality. Outstanding.

Outstanding wine, that is very complex but can build and improve over the next year or two. Alas I have no more and I was at Gary Farrell yesterday and they are sold out.
