Peculiar to Montalcino are the contrasting micriclimates on each side of the hill where this medieval town rises. To the northwest the fertile countryside produces delicate, fruity and rich in bouquet wines; to the south, the terrain mostly rough and almost wild produces more structured and alcoholic ones.
Ideally, a blend of southern and northern grapes should result in an "absolutely perfect" Brunello di Montalcino. Within this unique "micro-world" of Tuscany, the only winery owning vineyards in both areas is Val di Suga.
Val di Suga is situated on 173 acres, with 89 acres planted to vineyards.
Besides the care of each vine at val di Suga, there is a careful and rigorous selection during the winemaking process, in a continuous balance between tradition and modern technology.
