Domaine de Bellivière Calligramme Jasnières 2004

Kumquat, lime zest and honeydew mixed with saffir leaf and dill, followed by an off-dry medium finish. This is more of a food wine than a stand-alone wine... Pair dill-topped halibut and grilled romaine lettuce. A well done Chenin.

I might be the only one, but this wine reminded me of a good Alexander Valley bottling from Silver Oak: seemingly infused with new American Oak, this wine is thick and dark, with dill, black olive, and sage nuances. Like Silver Oak, this wine is almost over the top, and it is not for everyone. But it is dense and brooding, and I really enjoyed it. I would think it woulk keep for up to 6 years...

2002 Silver Oak Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander Valley
Tasting Note from Corkd.com

Certainly in the Silver Oak style, with toasty new American Oak imparting dill, pine, and sage notes. Some people don't seem to like this wine, but I prefer it to the softer, more mainstream Napa offering. Certainly not for the faint of heart, and its medium body won't appeal to fans of overripe Cabernet, but certainly a unique expression of the grape...
