Yarden Cabernet Sauvignon, 2000 – Although this wine is $5 over my usual $15 mark, having been to Israel and spent some time on the winery and in the Golan Heights area, I felt compelled to buy it. I remember the first time I drank a Yarden wine, some friends and I had spent...

Tasting Yarden Odem Vineyard Organic Chardonnay 2005 Bookmark this Blog/Forum Post
I received this wine as a sample for tasting. I’ve had Yarden before and enjoyed it, but that was a long time ago - before I had really started learning about wine. Bright gold in color. Nose of butter, honey, hazelnut and cream. Woodsy on the palate, with candied apple, tropical flavors ... to France; this Chardonnay is certainly testament to that.  Golan Heights Winery, which produces Yarden...

I've tried Kosher wine before, it was beastly, but I'd heard that Israel was now making wine that's drinkable for pleasure rather than ritual. Tesco had a bin end of Yarden's Mount Hermon 2004 from the Golan Heights, marked down to half price and piled up with bruised fruit, presumably post-passover, so I thought it give it a go. I was surprised to find it was quite a drinkable Bordeaux blend...

Israel & Wine: Golan Heights Gewurztraminer Bookmark this Blog/Forum Post
When you buy a bottle of wine for three or four dollars from a bargain grocery store, it’s hard to know what to expect. Especially when the wine comes from a country you don’t normally associate with wine. When I picked up the bottle of 2006 Golan Heights ‘Yarden’ Gewurztraminer from Israel, therefore, I had no point of comparison. According to Tom Stevenson’s Encyclopedia, Galilee, and more...

Three guys from Davis - My new friend Danial tells me that the Golan Heights Winery was founded by three guys from Davis. It seems so. the 2006 Yarden Mount Hermon Bordeaux style blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc has a beautiful smooth, balanced character with lots of great black fruit flavors - perfectly balanced. The 2004 Fuentespina Granate from the Ribera Del Duero...
