Sacred Hill ‘Gimlet Gravels’ Syrah 2005 Gimlet Gravels, Hawkes Bay One of a handful of ’05 Hawkes Bay Syrah’s I have tried, this is by far my favorite and luckily enough the cheapest. It normally retails at NZ $20 but for the past few weeks has been available at my local for only sixteen dollars, and what a well spent sixteen dollars it is. It begins with rich, ripe, sweet red fruits...

2006 Hayman & Hill Interchange Bookmark this Blog/Forum Post
I've enjoyed the Hayman & Hill wines I've had in the past. Recently I spotted a new one in the lineup that had no information about the grapes on the label. The 2006 Hayman & Hill Interchange is a white blend from Santa Barbera County. 47% Chardonnay, 34% Sauvignon Blanc, 7% Muscat Canelli, 5% Malvasia Bianca, 4% Semillon, and 3% Gewürtztraminer. It's a semi-dry wine with a huge nose...

After about 20 minutes or so...

2004 Hayman & Hill Meritage Reserve Selection No. 38 Bookmark this Blog/Forum Post
This wine is a bright purple/ruby color. I can smell rich red fruit and a hint of flowers. On tasting the wine, I find that this particular one just doesn't do it for me. It's OK, but just not my style. It's a bit too fruity for my palette. I ...
