Very good value white wine. Very harmonic, not too dry, not too sweet, not too acidic. Ripe, but should age well. 7 years is not enough for it to show its full potential, but who has time...
No doubt why Riesling is the Queen of Alsace...
Just off-dry, this white exudes sunshine and features lemon and peach flavors. Balanced, picking up acidity and a grating of white pepper on the long, tangy aftertaste. Drink now through 2012. 50 cases imported.
This elegant white shows great definition thanks to its laserlike acidity, which is balanced by honeyed notes of apple blossom, red grapefruit and apricot, with a touch of lime. A vein of minerality leads to the spicy finish. Drink now through 2013. 280 cases imported.
Soft and lush, yet with an underpinning of acidity, this white unravels its apricot, peach and grapefruit flavors as the structure mounts on the finish. Needs a little more time to harmonize. Has fine length. Best from 2008 through 2018. 500 cases made.
This has lost its primary fruit character and shows complex aromas and flavors of flowers, dried quince and mineral. It's mellowing, yet fresh, with a dry profile and a long dried citrus aftertaste. Drink now through 2010. 1,300 cases made.
Pungent, expressing ruby grapefruit, lychee and vanilla pastry aromas and flavors. Well-balanced. Has developed nicely, with harmony and a long finish. Drink now through 2008. 1,700 cases made.
Heady, with loads of honey, apricot and caramel corn notes. Moderately sweet, concentrated and a little raw today, so give it about five years. The aroma is really singing, but the palate needs time to align itself. Best from 2008 through 2020. 430 cases made.
A pleasant way to spend a couple of hours - delving through recipes from books and magazines with the aim of matching 5 dishes to 5 different wines. These were all white wines from the Hugel stable in Alsace ready...
